OK, in readers' rides I posted I got an aftermarket hood for my 05 Ford complete with scoops. Here's the problem, I put it on tonight, easy, four bolts and the old one's off, same four and the new one's on. Then I spent the next 2 1/2 hours trying to get it to close. I got it lined up but when I try to shut it, it goes as far as the safety latch and no matter what I try to do I can not get it to drop down the rest of the way to hook shut! Any ideas? It doesn't seem to be hitting anything, just cann't get it right.

Can you adjust the bump stops down. crank them all the way in, the gradually bring them back up.

Jump up and down on it lol

Try moving the hinge location forward or back a bit (they are slotted right?) It may be that the safety is not centered in the opening.

Tried both, had the bump stops all the way screwed in, and the hinges (at the body, it's the only place they're slotted) adjusted several dif. ways. no luck. It's like the latching assembly won't go down far enough to catch. Didn't try standing on it but I did let it slam as hard as I could and also tried pushing it down with as much force as I could. I used those same four bolts and took it back off for now, will look at it when it's not a hundred + degrees out. I also took several things off the engine to see if they were in the way, like the power steering fluid container mount and stuff like that. Ahhhh, the trials and tribulations of the person that hates to have the same look as everyone else.

I think Monday I'll call Dynamax in Elkhart and see if I can talk to the person that actually put them on the vehicles to see if they have any thoughts on the subject. That's a polite way of saying that I'm gonna call them and see if they can tell me how the Hell to get it to work!

It's going to be something that is so obvious that you missed it. The temps don't help, either!

Can you shim the latching assembly so it sits up a little further?
