Doug I'm drawing up the j&j hinge for you. I started this morning but I need to work for a bit. I'll finish up later. I would consider this image public article to vanners so if anyone wants it, take it and study it. I'll add the measurements later today.[Linked Image]

I have auto cad 2005 on here and do ot know how to use it.
Dave , The slots have to be the same width as the screw holes because that is the way you get the in and out adjustment on the doors. Tose are the first two holes you drill when you get the side to side adjustment right. Theny you mount the door and slide it in and out till youget it right . Then you drill through the holes and lock it in place . Do you get my drift????

Cheers!

I'm not using autocad. I'm using adobe illustrator. similar idea but more for graphic design. Doug I get the point of the slots I just wasn't being very accurate, I'll fix it.

Nice drawing Matchstick! Thanks for posting that here.

I didn't realize Adobe could do that sort of drawing - that's sweet! You might get me into that yet.

Thanks for the description of how the hinge is adjusted Phoenix - I always wondered how they pulled that off. Makes great sense now! I only wish the hood on my van were as easy!!!

I know a bit of AutoCad... I'm self-taught (through books) on it though, so there's lots I do inefficiently, but I've got what I need out of it. It's saved me many missteps when it comes to mechanical interference issues - I see the collisions long before cutting starts.

Clear skies!

Illustrator is a vector graphic program versus pixels like photoshop. In printing the two have to be used together. Vector graphics are mathematical equations which means you can shrink and expand a drawing without sacrificing image quality. It's a fun program but very complicated.

The j&j hinge is an excellent design no doubt about that. I hope to emulate it within the next few weeks to fix the height of my door. thanks doug for the info of course.
