Blue77, the extension should be automatic, here in NY I just keep on certifying every week and they keep on extending it.
We just got another 13 weeks from the state. I did find 2 jobs on line yesterday that I applied for.

In Missouri you had to call the office to get the extension but they took it from there

I hated the time 2 years ago when I was layed off. The loss of health insurance was the bigest worry. The after 15 years...the putting together of a resume and such... it was very stressfull, never once did I feel good about it or was I proud to collect a check from the government, (even if i did pay into it all those years) that was not the issue. For me its all about getting out there and working, paying my way, taking care of my wife and daughters. To me it just feels better to come home after a productive day, to collect a paycheck that I earned.... not one the gov sends me, one the tax payers are footing. Yes I did collect unemployment for 3 months (I was good for a year) but after 3 months of job searching, I did infact find the job I have today and am almost celebrating my 2nd year with. I work alot of hours, and mostly six days a week, I dont have the time to do the things I really enjoy so much...but at least I'm making my own way in life, and my kids see it and there aint nothing wrong with that.

So when you say "thank you working tax payers for all the van runs I'll be atending this year"

I say..... from me. You are not welcome.

Rock On

i dont want to start a govt war. and all that fun stuff.
I've been on unemployment since Oct... and ill be on it till this OCT.

Honestly im taking time off. 4 1/2 years of army. two deployments and nothing ever going the right way. I needed time away. My paychecks pay my bills.

But for me to give back. cause it is shotty to be on unemployment. I mow half my nieghbors lawn. do yard work/ tree work... for free... i get paid in beer from some folks... so it works out.

But im just waiting to start college.

anywho.

College is a good thing, I didn't get to go until I was in my 30s.
Also, I don't feel guilty about collecting unemployment I put my money and time in for it. I've worked more in my life than not, and I work temp assignments when I get them. It's unemployment or welfare, I'll take the unemployment. Besides, that's why these programs are there, to help people though the hard times. Otherwise we'd all be living in our vans down by the river.
grin

Well it looks like I may be a member of this club once again. The place I have been working as a sub-contractor for is closing its doors. Just great. I was not getting a lot of work from them but I was getting some. I was able to sign up for unemployment benefits while I was not working which was good. Well those benefits ran out. They sent me a letter that I do not qualify for the extended benefits. Wonderful. I am trying to appeal but do not expect much. Top that off I can't work right now anyway because of my knee surgery. Hmmmm....no work. No pay. No money. Looks like I am going to be having a great year. Who is going to want to hire a broken down old fat man with 2 bad knees, 2 bad arms and a back held together with bailing wire and a prayer. Wonder what cat food taste like. Looks like living in my van down by the river may happen. Guess I will go stake out a nice spot. Wonder if I should start drinking now or later.
