Thanks everyone, for your input! I am not afraid to attempt this project. Just wanted some advice is all, and I sure as hell wouldn't remove my rain gutters for any reason, unless I was making a vert out of her. LMAO!

I guess I figured the hardest part will be getting it home from the junkyard. I was thinking of just having them forklift it up to the van for me, and setting it on the roof, and then using straps to get it home. The rest of it, I can see being mostly a time eater, but a fun project regardless.

Greetings G-10. There are several styles of "high tops" in the marketplace from the mild "executive" to the "turtletop" that ambulance companies use just for that stand up feature. In between the mild executive top there is also the "TV" tops and all made from a fibreglass mold with gelcoat finish.
NHTSA, only allows the removal of the metal behind the "B" piller of the van for safety reasons, so if you want to remove the entire top, do your homework. Some state agencies require a "roll cage" for inner support, welded or bolted and mounted to the original support pillars.

In Elkhart/Goshen, tops are all over the place, expecially the conversion bone yards. The conversion companies remove all glass and material before the fabrication begins to avoid any damage to new glass or fabric material on new vans. When you have hot metal flying, it can etch glass and start fires. Besides holding down your new roof, water and weather proofing becomes an artform.

I hope this helps you in your endeavor.
Best Wishes

Glad you mentioned that tidbit about the B Pillar. I was wondering if that was an issue, since all the ones I've seen inside of, still have the original roof from there forward. I am planning on leaving room for shelves though, so I'm not taking the entire width out either.
