I found the engine came out very well through the passenger door with the valve covers and rockers removed. It helps to have the tranny out for an extra bit of clearance. It really wasnt too hard but I did need a torch to remove some bolts

i had a shop do my engine swap and that price you stated is what it is. they did do the swap through the passenger door. i didn't really have anywhere to try the swap myself as i've never even tried to do something like that before. good luck on whatever choice you make.
