Capn - thanks for that link! I always wondered where to get that heavy fuel-rated hose that connects the tank to the filler neck. Mine's hard as a bowling ball...

Maybe now I'll pull my tank out to clean up the floor pan over top of it!

They even have the strainers and all that good stuff.

Clear skies!

Fastest way to clean it out is drop a match in it lol

Putting the van back together is another story tho grin

I agree change it with new. If you miss a little bit of rust and get it into the carb, you risk messing that up to. Then you'll be buying that too.

I'm liking the MATCH idea from Superbeast.....

But I think I'll probably have to go the NEW TANK way. It just sounds like the easiest way, not to mention the "peace of mind" that comes with knowing that is at least NOT going to be an issue again! (same reason I bought a NEW radiator!)

Wackovanner.....I'll prolly NOT be making the Covenington,WA. meet, which STINKS! Because I WAS planning on it.

THANKS TO ALL!! for all the helpful input!!

i had a problem with the PHAT BASTARD , a 77 dodge , dropped tank twice to clean out but kept clogging the fuel lines so i replaced the tank with a new one from jc whitney and got a new sending unit from chrysler , also replaced fuel lines , good luck .

The last thing you want to do is use a old gas tank that has rust in it......do yourself and your engine a favor and get a new tank.....will save you a load of problems in the future...unless you like rebuilding your carb every year and ruining your engine........screwing up your fuel pump, clogging your fuel lines......(n eed I go on?)
