This thread is trying to address that issue

I am all for it and guess I am going to have to talk to a couple of the vendors here to see what kind of deal I can get on these. | | | Re: Save a Vanner Defibrillator | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 352 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 352 | I remember Mythbusters made a defibrillator to address some related myths. It would undoubtedly be cheaper to have a DIY one, but I'm not sure if we'd want to trust someone's life with it. 1979 GMC Vandura 2500 - 400 sbc, th350 trans (Sleipnir) 1979 Chevrolet Beauville 2500 - 400sbc, th350 trans (no name yet) 1988 GMC Safari SLE

Again these dont shock unless needed (thats whats nice about them) and if I need it or even think I need it I would want you to try. Also we arent saying give it to anyone, every council has that one or two people responsible enough to hold it with them and use it if needed. ooops sorry just reread your post you were talking about making one, yea I see what your saying then.

After all Flight Attendants are trained in first aid and their use, so I cannot see why we cannot do the same.......
Ed is there any used equipment available from your suppliers ??

Also, most hospitals dont use the portable defibs and we dont want to have to carry a large one that always has to be plugged in. | | | Re: Save a Vanner Defibrillator | Joined: May 2008 Posts: 64 journeyman | journeyman Joined: May 2008 Posts: 64 | Having a defib machine is a good idea but working out the details could be a problem. My suggestion is that at least one member of each host club learns how to do CPR. Host clubs also need to have plans ready on what to do in an emergency so no time is wasted. I'm one of those "aging" vanners but I already have a pacer/defib(AICD)implanted.

If it were inexpensive enough maybe hit each van thru the gate for a buck and it'll be paid for.
What kind of training is needed for such a thing? Also can it hurt someone if used wrong or for the wrong reason?
I understand the reasoning behind having one, but also need to think about harm or law suits. It sucks that the world has come to this. Actually you would be trained at a class, aboot 3 hours worth. But it's fairly easy to use, basically idiot proof (or until a bigger idiot comes along). I know how to use one and I am first aid and CPR adult and child certified as well, and can do basic first aid. Had to be trained at my college I worked at, so if anything happens, let me know. And my wife was trained as a CRN as well. ^^ Kimmyskunk
