I guess since I started this thread, I should finally let everyone know what I have been doing.....I have been employed by ????????? ( an unnamed military contractor ), doing stuff I can't talk about....

The upside is 12 months pay for 3 months work in a field I am particularly suited for, in an area, where NO VANNER'S reside...is where I am at.........

The downside is I have, and will miss a lot before my return to Vanning for the Natz, for this year...... forgive me for my absence.....

I will be missing my beloved Vanfest, as well as other eVANT's I am normally attending, however, because of the nature of what I am doing, I am frighteningly okay with that.....

I have been recently involved heavily in a 2 separate search and rescue missions in this area, and as much as I hate chopper's, I have the urge to see it through, as although it it IS NOT what I am hired to do, my humanity dictates my involvement...

What I am probably trying to say is that, although there is NO WORK in your field, in your own area, where you are, your skills, as experienced workers , may be valued elsewhere, and although it may take you away from what, who and where you are, you may find it personally rewarding as doing the right thing, as well as providing for yours....

What you do with this information is your choice........what I will say is, it is YOUR CHOICE !

Well this is one club that I did not want to join for sure! But I returned from Lost weekend to find that the shop foreman was let go on Friday. Later that day I received my walking papers. After thirteen years, no real reason given. Just we are parting ways.???
Rumer has it the shop will be closing for good. As production manager I know what's going on. And we don't have anything lined up for the summer.
Anyway it's on to bigger and better things.
I plan to take some time for myself and do lots ot truckn'!
On a side note, until I repair my home computer I won't be on very much.

HOLY CRAP CHARLIE! I can't believe it! So sorry to hear this - especially this way! WTF? I hope that you are still able to make the events you've planned to go to and that something will come along with a more relaxed schedule so you can do more vanning during the course of the year. Love ya man! And thanks for all that you did for my shower this past weekend!

Shit Charlie that Sucks! That happened to me last year too. I went to Freezeout and came back and got let go the next day. Keep your eyes and ears peeled bud. I'll hoist one for ya in the meantime.

Damn, that SUCKS, Charlie! Sorry to hear it. If another job doesn't come up, I hope ya at least get unemployment benefits so you can truck for the rest of the summer.

Well everyone I got some good news!!! I got called back to Caterpillar Inc.... But liked my 9 months off.. Got to hit alot of truckins I have never been too!!

Sorry Charlie...Good for you Doc & Bad Boy..years back when I was laid off from GoodYear that 90 days off went by quick but after 90 days your medical ins runs out so I had to find a job. That being said I have a friend still there & he was laid off for 4 years but he had a side job that he did then & still does.
