Wow! Do you think it really has a 300 in it? It sure got the power to the road!

This is a good way to sell an engine...

That 300 is one of Ford's best engines.

I had a 1984 F-150 4.9 4speed with granny,Bought new,put 299930 miles on org. motor and had a total of 500340 miles on it when i sold it to a friend 3 years ago and its still going.Use to 4 wheel with old toyotas with big chevy engines in them,They would get mad at me when I was in granny and went up a hill without spinning a tire and they all were spinning and sliding up it,and sometimes they spun so much they would not make it up.not the best for towing but out on the trails if i could fit I could go.just like a tractor chugging a long, when new got 12 mpg,put on a 2.5 exhast, performance cat.,cherry bomb muffller,k&n air filter,Jacobs ignition and was getting up to 21 mph on the highway with 3:55 rears and 32/11:50.15 tires, Wish i still had it was better in the snow then my jeep is.

Thank you, I love the pictures. I know the longevity of these motors are unmatched, I had a 1985 e150 4 speed on the floor with 380k when i sold it. I LOVE these motors and I am planing to put one in my 4x4 van. Thank you again....

don't know the address, but search for CLIFFORD PERFORMANCE on the WWW and check them out. They do nothing but inline 6 hot rod stuff for the last 2 or 3 hundred years! A buddy of mine has a 1970 NOVA with a 292 6cyl and does freakin mid 12s with it in the 1/4, so real good power can be had, and MPG too

Good luck and keep us posted

292's had a lot of torque, but don't know so much about MPG. They had huge cylinders.

In the last few weeks I have went from knowing what I am doing to-Well not knowing. I let the 300 slip by, I am all most letting the shorty slip by, but I still am adiment on getting to the 1 ton-it is a 15 passenger 4x4. I have to take off a body- clean up the frame- put new body on. Motor and trans need to go back in. But I know it will be a 300!

You can actually take the body off with the engine and trans in place, if you haven't already removed them.

take off body-clean frame-paint
put in motor trans transfer case-paint
and during the week I will take home body parts and refinish them.
New body on-refinished parts on-body work-paint!!

I know that I'll hit a bunch of snags buy that is my tenitave schedual! but the project has to wait untill I get my wife a minivan frown O well..

I will be posting the progress when I get some time to take pictures!!!!

Jozee:

Have you ever been to this site: http://www.fordsix.com/

They have a lot of info about all Ford sixes beside the big block 300's.

I have a 4.9L 300 6 in my 83 and I love it.

Bye, Arnie

I have a 300 in my pickup and want a van with one as well. By far the best motor I've ever owned. I've got 250K on mine and it still runs sweet. Love the 300!

I just came into possession of my third Ford Van. It has the 300 with AOD. The gas mileage is truly astounding. I have been averaging 20 mpg, with about half of the miles towing a fairly lightweight tandem axle utility trailer. I know, I know, my other two vans (both Pathfinder 4x4s, a E-350 with a 460 and a 12 inch lift and 38 inch mudders and a E-250 with a Fuelie 351 extended van with high top)get horrible gas mileage, so I really am not unbiased when it comes to 300's.

3+ years later - Back into the conversation, Still have the old pathfinder 4x4 rotting along the treeline. But now I am back! Back to a 2wd 300i6 and I am head over heels in love. Hopefully the photos will come up ( Hosted on Facebook ) one of just my van and one with my dads. I will post more about what we are doing to it as the wrenches turn.
