Just read this. Good job with it nate!
Cant wait to see what it looks like when you have the flares/running boards you want on.
To me it changed dramictly with them off... but it still looks Damn good!

Once I get the wider wheels and tires on, I still want to go with a set of the fiberglass one-piece running boards. Eventually the van will be black.

This one has A/C, but it needs recharged. I thought it worked until I tried this past weekend and it still has R-12. frown

Hey, another van's going to the dark side!!

;0)

(Mine's going to be black too...)

If you want to spend an afternoon cramming from free study materials and taking a test from your computer, for $25 you can get your EPA certification as a small appliance refrigeration tech and buy all the R-12 you want.

http://www.epatest.com/software/

R-12 is still readily available, even if at somewhat of a premium price, but it needs to be recovered, and from what I read so far, it can't be mixed with other refrigerants in the recovery storage vessels.

Since your refrigerant is already gone, that simplifies the situation considerably...

I've been meaning to get certified, but too many diversions keep butting in!

Clear skies!

I do have a card that I was given when I was still turning wrenches. It's a MACS cert.

I don't think that allows me to buy R-12 though. I'll probably have it converted to R-134A eventually.

Seems like I keep taking steps backwards on this van. This weekend I installed new front shocks and installed new wiper linkage bushings and dialed in the trans. kickdown linkage. Good there.

Now..the A/C has stopped working (leaked out) and the brake pedal goes almost to the floor, the trans. still has a leak, AND now the damn engine won't idle right! I think that new carb. I put on is starting to take a crap. Oh yeah...I have a hellacious vibration at highway speeds too.

It's cursed I tells ya!

*sigh*

At least my conversion van is running great.
