That orbital buffer won't do the job.

this is the buffer you need

I bought this one at Harbor Freight......
I really belive the small disposable rollers have a finer nap they will cover less area but will lay the paint down smoother.........

Looks like a match to me, Wookee. I think my parents are gonna buy it for me anyway.

If done wcorrectly, you can end up with a showroom shine. You would need to wet sand out all the orange peel. Then when polishing, be sure not to stay in one spot. You can burn through the paint in a hurry. Just keep the polisher moving.

Yep, Mom's gonna buy it for me today. Hopefully I can speed it along (althouhg I won't rush too hard)... my old job just called me, they want me to drive for a 500-person catering event (You can't fit eight cambros, a hatco, three people, and fifty trays in a minivan laugh )... so I need to at least get the van 'presentable' by Sunday.

Don't use a cutting pad on the buffer unless you really know what you are doing. 1800-3000 rpm buffers work great but you have to keep it moving especially on edges.

Okay, so tell me...
I wetsanded the glossy-black... and while it's incredibly smooth now, it's also incredibly flat. Will the polishing compound with the sander/polisher bring the shine back, or just make it flatter?

You can see that the left panel has been wetsanded and is flat.

Okay.
And good news, I may have been fired/quit from Fazoli's 1711, but one of the old managers will hire me immediately over at 1694... he needs workers bad, and I'm fully qualified and trained in every non-Manager position. Plus even back at 1711, they need my van for a catering this Sunday...

He's an awesome guy, we'd hang out outside of work. He has a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T that we work on.
