That would have been a huge shame--glad you guys were all able to make it work--Vanners are the best! | | | Re: The Saga of Lion's Den... | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 4,043 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 4,043 | Three Cheers for Boot! (Oh, and thanks for taking the guilt off my conscience for almost letting Lion's Den disappear.... ) | | | Re: The Saga of Lion's Den... | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 4,338 vantooner | vantooner Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 4,338 | I think tht is the quickest I have ever seen vanners jump. Just really glad the Den won't go under the torch. I hate to think of the sides cut out and hanging on the wall of someones shop. The guy that had the van I got a lot of my interior from made the same comment, but the mural on that wasn't done as well, and there were some serious holes in that van. hat's off to Boot! | | | Re: The Saga of Lion's Den... | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 | I want that van bad, but no cash right now, I've got our truck up for sale to see about getting another van. SC ain't too far from me, I'd have gone and got it myself. | | | Re: The Saga of Lion's Den... | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 3,302 | Boot, you have a ride there and back, or are you flying? All these posts have me a little confused, so much to catch up on! If you need some help getting from point a to point B, or anything else, let me know. | | | Re: The Saga of Lion's Den... | Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 3,124 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 3,124 | WOW
I just got home from work and went straight to the computer. You guys have this all wrong. I didn't do anything that any of you wouldn't have done, if you were financially capable. Think about it, we all assumed that someone would step up and buy it, fix it and love it. Anyway, I've changed the date, I'm taking off Sunday and going after the Den. I spoke to a friend today at Napa, and told him the whole story, and he hooked me up with anything that I may need on the road... new belts, hoses, fuses, bulbs, headlights, etc. A friend will be bringing me up and following me back.
My intention is to let anyone in this forum who wants to help be involved in the restoration. I will not let anyone work on it until Superbeast and Cloudy have seen it, and we can assess the extent of the work. Danny has already told me he'll be down soon as well. Anyone who has a skill that may be helpful is encouraged to throw in a hand. You are all welcome here, any time, and beer and food is on me. I dont want any hand outs at all, if any of you get a special deal on body supplies, or anything that can be used to make this happen, please let me know.
The commeraderie in this forum is amazing, and every one of you who reads this should be proud to be a part of a place like this. This is truly what vanning is all about. I could try to explain it to someone until I'm blue in the face, but unless you've lived it, you wouldn't understand. My hat is off to all of you, and I'm humbled by the heart that this silly little space on the web has.
Okay, enough of the mushy stuff , there is one thing I could use help with. I bought those flares and a gull wing door for the Street Survivor from a guy in Irving, Pa. Is anyone in that area willing to pick them up and ship them to me? | | | Re: The Saga of Lion's Den... #20957 July 29th 2005 10:22 pm | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 | tattoingSC send me an E-mail its a round a 2hr drive to pick up those parts.I can do it if you want. and ship them down to you..... wookee10358@msn.com Lions den was built by Bob's van shop when they were located in York Pa.The murial work wqas done by a guy named Harold Harnish(I hope I spelled his name right).I geuss we just took there work for granted around here because the were putting out so many outstnding looking vans at the time.Harold did a number of great wrap murals. After Bob closed up shop in Pa he mover to Florida. This was in the mid 80's.I do not think Harold pianted another van after that. This van is definatly a part of van history........Wookee | | |
