I dont remember ever seeing them when I was younger (remember, the Caravan came out about the same time I was born!), but I've seen quite a few lately at the PNP, but only in Voyaguer models, not Caravan.

Have seen a few conversion caravans. Now I'm trying to remember something with my old 2000 caravan. It didn't have the quad captains, and I think the middle bench seat, might have reclined. I just can't recall. The one i have now, has the quad captains, and they all recline flat, so you could use as a single bed, but it puts alot of strain on the back part, when flat, with alot of weight in that area. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | These ones looked very similar in shape to what I have in my shorty and are mounted in the centre seating position, looks like they would have filled most of the back when unfolded into a bed.

You can get small tri-folds, aftermarket. They open up in 3 sections, obviously. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | A trifold would describe it perfectly. They all looked the same in the Voyageurs I saw. I didnt ecamine them closely to tell if it was the same factory cloth as the rest, kind of far to go to take another look and I cant leave town this weekend, but I can check them out more closely next time I go, they seemed common enough so I have no doubt there will still be some there.

I've been lookin for one of those for a few weeks now, with no luck at all. WHERE are you seein these things? I need a blue one!!!
They are a factory option, it's listed in the owners manual of my 88 caravan, and it's called "convertabed". Apparently it "fold easily into a spacious bed".
Oh, and apparently it was only available in the short wheelbase 5 passenger ones. It didnt work with the 3 rows of seats. | | | Re: Rear bed | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 1,317 | yes it was only a 5 passenger, the bed takes most of the rear. The groupe of them that I saw were in Edmonton, a bit over 3 hours drive from me but they were all tan in colour. I'm pretty certain we have a member or two in Edmonton...
