For some time now I've had an exhaust leak on the 225 slant 6
at the area of the exhaust gasket on cylinder 1 mainly but also slight leak on cyl 2 and 3, and am going to change it soon. I'm already missing 1 bolt which I didn't notice till I started looking, listening for the leak, and have been told theres a possibility some might break during removal. I've got a service manual, and have been told the gaskets and bolts are supposed to be available.

If anyone has done this before, do you have any advice or suggestions?
thanks
Kermit

Not all this info will be relevant to you but I figured Dutra is the man when it comes to this stuff.

Not a /6, but on my 3.9 one of the manifolds was being held on by just one stud. I used a long thin screw to measure how deep the hole was compared to how long the stud was supposed to be, then added what was left sticking out on the remaining stud. The total I got was the same as the legnth of the new stud, so that told me they werent broken, just missing. Try this and then when if you get a new stud make sure to tighten down the rest, I managed to do this without needing to buy a new mani or gasket.

Let it cool off first, and use the time you need...
You don't have to do that, but it will be much nicer.

uhmm, There is nothing REALLY special about this, except that you bolt the manifolds to the head, before the intake to the exhaust.
AND there IS a right and a wrong way to install the little triangle washers, one of the "legs" are longer than the other...
Make sure you have room around the washers when they are installed, or make room for them in some way, or the manifold might break after some time...

Uh, I guess you should just soak everything with kroil, or something a day or two before you start, and find the 1/4" ratchet and extensions...have fun!
