Adding a second alternator would call for fabricating a bracket,, and i have a small garage, no welding equip. All im looking for right now, is an alternator that can put out, at the min, 100amps, And most important, will bolt right on. The powermaster 140amp looks like it should go right in.
and Thanks Astro, ill add that merchant to my list!

No adjustment points to worry about on the individual parts, just a tensioner....

It also shows me that his vehicle is running when he does his thing.
I have mixed feeling about this. I don't mind running vehicles at the show and shine. I do mind when they idle like sh%t and you cant breath. Its not that I have any breathing problems.Ask anyone I love the smell of Nitro in the morning !
I have a question should we allow them to run or just give them an extension cord limited to 120v @20 amps for the show and shine.
Whats your opinion ??? I know it is a little off topic but I didn't want to start another thread. On second thought i will leave this here and start a new thread.

The standard altenator that runs on our tractor trailer units are single units, same diameter, roughly as a car altenator, but twice or better deep as a van one. If you have the clearance one single behemouth should be good. These are available at any Truck parts place or dealership across America.
Quote Delco alternators normally have built in regulators, and vary from 105A to 185A
Unquote.
May be simplified fitting one big one rather than 2 or more smaller ones

Loudguys van was built to sit and play and does not need to be run at all shows it is very capable of playing for long periods of time on its (13) batteries....The 4 alternator setup was designed to charge the system up fast when the van is started there is one alternator per bank of batteries....... .....So Bill if I were you I'd get off my f'n soapbox and get your sources straight

I was trying to make the point that that if I was in a sound competition, I would want all the power I could produce. Having that vehicle running would be a natural choice. I didn't mean to imply that Loudguy parks his van next to someones tent and runs it just to listen to music. I do know at sound-offs there is the vehicle a decimal meter a judge and the vehicle operator and maybe a few people around it at a large outdoor event. If they run them there so be it.
My statement refereed to night light vehicles running at a truck in with hundreds of people in close proximity.
I think there has been a large misunderstanding here.

And how much HP is needed at full draw?
I'd hate to see what a bit of road debris like a tire tread would do to that...
