Not as many as I'd have liked to, about 50. | | | Re: van ins #12568 December 10th 2004 8:57 pm | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 937 Retired | Retired Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 937 | Since 1972 I have collected dash plaques from over 450 van runs, poker runs, shows and hall parties. Being I tended to over enjoy in the early years I can't remember much about them, but I hear I had a good time. I do know that I have two kids (boneheadbrat being one of them) that are directly related to the good times I was having!
In the early years it wasn't uncommon to have a run every weekend from late Spring into early Fall, sometimes multiple "happenings" on the same weekend. I can remember doing 10 days of vanning where we had a local weekend run, drove to the Nationals Warm up party Sunday and then the Nationals. Nothing like the smell of a van after living in it with a few people for 10 days or so (and people wonder why I like motor homes now days ) | | | Re: van ins #12569 December 10th 2004 10:03 pm | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 66 journeyman | journeyman Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 66 | I counted my dash plaques, was about 150,but I have only been into vannin since 1982,but there is one dash plaque that was not a vannnin but a wedding they called Jeff & Nancy's "poke-her-run". | | | Re: van ins #12570 December 10th 2004 11:11 pm | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 6,115 | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 6,115 | "official" van in's i have attended 35 in the last 2 seasons -car and or truck shows another 15 dash plaques i have about 25 from everywhere i've been with my early chevy, some events didn't have em plaques first event next season is charlotte autofair at lowes motor speedway..have a vendors spot payed for for a weeks stay the first week of april from there..van blessing and so on and van on -the early dodge poptop WILL be on the road and ready for charlotte in april, question is will it be towing the early chevy or will the early chevy be towing the dodge ;)or will the chevy be sold.. stay tuned LOL we'll return after these messages | | | Re: van ins #12571 December 11th 2004 12:48 am | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 2,303 veteran | veteran Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 2,303 | I lost count after the first one. I've been vanning 10 years this coming Spring Thaw. I know I've been to 9 Nats only missing one since I started. I just counted the patches on my jacket and there are 32 regular truck-ins. I know I am missing a few. So I am somewhere around 50. I have been fortunate to make it to Truck-ins out west in Oregon 2X, California, Colorado, South Dakota 2X, Iowa, and all over the mid west. OK, don't correct my geography, I know Iowa is in the mid west. I have also been to three CofC's and countless hall parties. I know you only asked about truck-ins but some times I can't stop typing. A lot for ten years and have had a blast at all ov them. So I'm told. Can't wait until the next season starts. (I went to some of those in the late 70's) + visited a weekender event in 76 (didnt own a van myself at the time though :-( ) As an adult I've only been to 1 event (very briefly) at the end of this year, but hope to be able to attend as many as possible in 2005. | | | Re: van ins #12573 December 11th 2004 2:39 am | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 358 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 358 | I recently counted my dash plaques from truck-ins, picnics, hall parties and such and the grand total from 1981 is 257. I was astounded! I didn't think there were that many. Time flies when you're havin' fun! I'm going to put them all on the inside of the gullwing door on the rear of my early Chevy! | | | Re: van ins #12574 December 11th 2004 5:19 pm | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 32,759 Likes: 175 Old Timer | OP Old Timer Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 32,759 Likes: 175 | I started in 1976 and to date with hall partys and all, BVA xmas party was my 427th last weekend.Where does the time go when your having fun. I just counted my Dash Plaques and picked at the remaining brain cells to add in those eVANts that I don't have a plaque from, and I'm up to well over 200 starting from Oct. '78. God willing another 200 are on the horizon!! Hope to see you there, I'll bring the Beer!! | | | Re: van ins #12576 December 12th 2004 4:02 pm | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 6,261 Bad Girls from New York, Bad Western Inn in IN. | Bad Girls from New York, Bad Western Inn in IN. An average of 10 Van-ins each year for 22 seasons--with hall parties, yard parties, road rallies, bowling parties, C of C's added in I'm probably around 250 or so. I'm not counting visits to car shows--never got dash plaques and those are very few. Do meetings count?! And there are always those 'house parties' for birthdays, holidays, etc.. I guess it just depends on what you count. | | | Re: van ins #12577 December 14th 2004 1:18 am | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 577 old hand | old hand Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 577 | i probably have about 25 dash plaques, give or take. im a 1st gen young-un vanner! | | |
