I have a new stereo, and would like to use the existing wiring to the old speakers, for now. I got an adapter from Best Buy for '88-04 Gm vehicles, and that plug doesn't look anything like the plugs that came out of the back of this old stereo. This stereo is the huge one with the cassette deck and equalizer built in. State of the art, for the day. Unfortunately, it no longer functions properly. I got a new Kenwood unit, and no time to install the thing with existing wiring. I don't know where the old wires go. Too many plugs. If anyone has an idea about the different colors, I sure would appreciate it! Thanks! "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. The seperate small socket (2 wire) is the light and memory wire, I recall that much, believe the speaker wires are color matched to the aftermarket radio's. | | | Re: Wiring woes! | Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 1,097 old hand | old hand Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 1,097 | Here is a link that has the diagram for you . The site is called the12volt.com It is a great reference for color codes and wiring diagrams.

The new harness should plung into the old plugs that you removed from back of stock radio, the stock should of had multiple plugs come out of it one for speakers and other for power/antenna and so forth. If it is the wrong one all the brown and green brown are speakers, yellow is hot I beleive. | | | Re: Wiring woes! | Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 1,097 old hand | old hand Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 1,097 | 1989-93 Chevrolet Van (fullsize) Stereo Information Constant 12V+ Orange Switched 12V+ Yellow Ground Black Illumination Gray Dimmer Brown Antenna Trigger Pink Antenna Right Front Front Speakers 4" x 6" Dash Left Front (+) Tan Left Front (-) Gray Right Front (+) Light Green Right Front (-) Dark Green Rear Speakers 6" x 9" Rear Doors or 4" x 10" in the Rear Corners Left Rear (+) Brown Left Rear (-) Yellow Right Rear (+) Dark Blue Right Rear (-) Light Blue
