It was a '70 A-100 with a 400cid engine. I drove it for about 3 years befor parking it. It eventually got fixed up and sold on Ebay last year. It now resides in Japan. I bought a '65 A-100 pickup in 2000 as my daily driver while the '70 was parked. Pickup was sold in '02 or '03.
Second van I got in 2001. It was a '69 A-108 Family Wagon high-top camper. Was my daily driver until 2003 when I bought a '70 Dart Swinger. Kept the van until 2004 and sold it to my bud Brian. He kept it until this year. Sold on Ebay and is now in Canada.
Third van was a '69 A-108 Xplorer 21 RV purchased in 2003. I never got it on the road officially, though I put lots of time and money into it. Sold it to Brian and he still has it.
Fourth van I bought 2004. It's a '94 B-250 Conversion van which I drive everyday. Still drive it and still love it. Comfy. Sold the Dart on Ebay in 2004 as well. Haven't had a car since.
Fifth van I bought was another '69 A-108 in 2005. Was green with a slant six and auto trans. Sold it to a vanning.com member (Pegasus) and it is now in Ohio.
Sixth van I bought is a '77 B-100 Tradesman with 400 engine. Still have it and am currently fixing up to hopefully drive soon. Maybe bring it to the Nats if I get it reliable.
Seventh van I bought is an '85 B-250 Ram Wagon. Got it off Ebay. It has a slant six with auto trans. I still have it and drive it once a week.

Anyway, here was the day I purchaced the '85. Now the only problem was finding a way to get two vans home from Illinois to Pa. That story is too long but it involves a trip to Tenn. and rod bearing replacement in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn. You can read that story in Leadfoots first Van Magazine. Gup PS. And look, even in '98, I had a Moon Lite Vans shirt. I guess it was destiny. OK, I just found out you can edit if yours is the latest post. LOL

Went to Van Canada 76 and 77 with it. I sure didn't buy it for it's looks: My second van a 74 Ford was my favorite. I went to 14 runs with it that summer and had a blast with it whatever the weather: Here is a shot of it at Van America 1978 on the track at Watkins Glen: My third van a 65 Chevy only made it to one van evant, our club meeting about 2 miles from my house. Boy did I have big dreams for this one, but fortunately the guy at the body shop set me straight on how much it would cost to do it right: So I bought this 79 Ford to replace the Chevy and worked at a van shop that summer. I did not get to take home too much money as I was almost working for parts (lol) good thing I was still living at home. After that one I took a few years off vanning, went to a few events without a van including 3 Nationals, then in 2000 I bought my workhorse 95 Safari I still have today. Here's a shot of it at the 2005 Nats beside Baby and Superbeast: In 2005 I had this crazy idea to do Panelfest ... I didn't even have a panel at the time so on a whim someone told me about this one and I just had to buy it. It was built by a writer for Street Trucks so I figured I couldn't go wrong. Here's a shot of it after Vanfest 05 in pretty good company: I was thinking about selling it but I might just keep it for 2007 and it sure would be nice to bring it back to Vanfest for a third time and to the Nats.

They aren't too revealing, but here they are: It was white (painted with a brush) and black around the wheel openings. It had a "shore tie" just behind the driver door which I did like a lot. (I just mounted one in my black van this summer up underneath) The inside wasn't much. Wood paneling poorly put up, shelves in weird places and a odd looking closet thing. Nasty brown carpet covered the floor. The one redeming factor was the bed was well constucted and comfy to sleep on. I used to throw a futon matress on it and bedding and take off for weekends. I did have fun with this van, and enjoyed it. I just never got to see the plans I had for it through because as I stated before, I drove it into the ground. Then I found what was to be 'Black Diamond'.
