[color:"green"] Ok, I am proud to unveil our new van club here in Memphis. Two other old timers and my self have decided to start our chapter. We tossed around a few names, River City Truckers, River City Van Assn ect. We have decided on the following. "Blues City Vans" because as we all know Memphis is the Blues Capitol. We have 2 chevies and a Dodge so far. my 88 g10, a fine tradesman 100 shorty with a 360, and a 74 chevy g20 long bed. Members names are Rooster( dodge tradesman), Bob (chevy g20) and Jim (myself g10). We are goin to start workin on a club logo tommorrow...wish us luck...Jim ( Blues City Vans)

congratulations. You should work some music notes into the logo, and maybe some BLUE SUEDE SHOES!!! By the way, those of us that have been around awhile know that the saying really goes----"Born on a mountain, raised in a cave, Truckin and F***** is all I crave"! I still have a jacket pin that says so!

Wow pretty cool, here in GA we have a new club starting also with 4 members to start. Jim Bulger, Alan Daly, Henry Knuckles, and myself. We have not come up with a name yet but we will. I am also going to the CofC with Boot and helping start a new coucil in the southeast to represent some of these new clubs. Stay tuned for more info. Sorry you couldnt make GSVR II. Somethings you just dont have no control over.

Jeff I don't know who you are but with slamming you won't last..if they want to form a club and join a "Council" so be it..guess you won't be in it since your "Independant"

Congrats Guys!

A club is a GREAT way to start. The only advice I would like to give you is keep it simple. The more rules and regulations you start to enforce the more trouble comes up.

Good luck!

Rules?? I never was much for alot of rules and red tape...after all its all about the ride. We all love our vans and the brotherhood and sisterhood that goes with it. Its the freedom of the open road, getting together with other vanners and living life the way WE want to. The CLUB will be for that, just enough to keep things in order. I quote from a old tv show...you guess which one..." Goin down that long lonesome highway...gona live life my way." BigJim - Pres. Blues City Vans 2%

Those are exactly the kind of rules I was talking about. That is all our club has left. Party hardy and puke in your own van.

Michael Parks proved to all that he couldn't sing in that TV show. Jim, Blues City Vans might want to grab a membership or subscription to Hoavc Van Council www.hoavc.com we try to keep our clubs informed of happenings (except for our step child club All Fired Up) LOL

I believe Blues City will be part of the up and coming Southeastern Van Council. You will be hearing more about this as the CoC rolls around.

The SouthEast is beginning to look up. Blues City Vans was followed up this week in Myrtle Beach by Low Country Vans, with 3 members and a potential fourth. The paperwork has been filed with the State for non-profit status, and the SouthEast Van Council has been formed. The Council's memberships at this point are the Volunteer Vans from Knoxville, Blues City from Memphis, and Low Country Vans of Myrtle Beach. Organization is in progress for a club in the Atlanta area, and I believe we'll be hearing something from Alabama soon as well.

We may be step the step child van club but when All Fired Up shows up everyone knows what to expect. Lee is asleep by 9 pm and Art will be pouring the double bubbles until 5 am. We've actually passed each other as he was headed to bed and I was getting up to make coffee. LOL

Seriously, It's great to hear about the new clubs and council. It creates opportunities for a lot of vanners in the South East and gives the rest of us potential for a lot more eVANts to visit.

It is so exciting to read that there is a new Council forming. I too would like to add that at King City in CA. this past weekend it was announced that the Southern California Van Council will be back and running again real soon. I was given a roster of the potential Clubs and Independents that will be forming this Council and it looks great.
However on a sad note, I would like to express that the Northwest Van Council looks to be on its last legs. With dwindling vanners here in the NW and lack of participation it looks like we will last maybe one more year. I hope to make it to the thirty year anniversary which is 2007. We shall see.

[color:"RED"] Yes, the Southern California Van Council is well on its way to becoming a reality. I have been talking with Tom Chronister (Wheels of Confusion) about it for over 2 months. I don't know yet how many clubs will be involved but I think a couple of clubs from Arizona will be involved with it too. It is great to hear about all the clubs being formed and all the new vanners( and old vanners) joining or rejoining our hobby. You can bet that as vanning becomes more popular on the west coast it will also grow in other areas of the country. People are starting to notice vans at car shows again as well as on TV and that is a good sign.

Talk about a fast growing club. You now have membership in two states! Next thing you know you'll be invading Texas Jim. That's OK because we got a huge amount of vanners in Texas who don't van anymore and need a little nudge to get going again. Your welcome to come down and recruit anytime. You just got to promise to stop and visit with All Fired Up Vanz whenever you or your club members are in Texas.
