I saw a couple that I liked and even tho' they aren't for "outdoor use"... I'm going to see if I can't turn them into cool looking portholes for the van. Cheez... just got done welding them up and now I'm going to cut more holes in the side of the van! Ha!
I also pulled the dash yesterday because a couple gauges weren't working. Ford has a funky setup back there. Looks like a large circuit board only it's plastic. No wonder things are failing. I'm going to make my own dash and put some decent "Dolphin" gauges in it. Wood dash, custom gauges.. should look nice.
The more I do.. the more I uncover... ugh! | | | Re: Work is progressing... '78 Flashback | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 1,542 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 1,542 | just got done welding them up and now I'm going to cut more holes in the side of the van! Ha!
! Oh Boy! prepare for the thrashing ! Stained glass you say? Thats funny, yesterday I too was lookin into that (great minds..) and I found this Van. Not that Im thinkin about doing that, just that you dont see many of them and I think they are cool. | | | Re: Work is progressing... ! Oh Boy! prepare for the thrashing ! I think I just bit off the tip of my tongue Van is looking really nice tho! Would be a shame to cut a hole in it. An idea for you, since the stained glass is not meant for outdoor use, why not leave the panel solid and build a box for the glass with some LED lights in it and recess it in the wall where you want it. Then the lights will make it show off really well. | | | Re: Work is progressing... Was also thinking about just mounting on top of the "uncut" area and just mounting a frame around it and calling it good. I wouldn't have the light coming through it, but if I ever wanted to take them off I wouldn't have to patch up the side again.. OR who knows.. maybe I'll just display them in the back windows... I dunno yet.. we'll see. | | | Re: Work is progressing... '78 Flashback | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 28,125 Madman! | Madman!
