Brett from phuctifino's

This is my 1973 Ford E-100 Shorty. I bought it from Sean Georgi over the winter and the whole club has had a hand in making her pretty again. Soon to paint and interior but right now I just can't help but drive it as much as possible, lol. Also, anyone have any hints for getting the doors to line up. It seems that almost every mid ford I see, the doors aren't quite right.

Nice Mid...these vans have grown on everyone lately. Just a clean retro custom van! Keep at it, and looking forward to seeing it at the 09 Nats!

Instructions:
Weld side doors to front door with extensions between...

roll window down... keys in pocket...

door adjustment:
Each hinge uses 6 bolts (3 to door, 3 to pillar)

The door hinge attachment between the body pillar and door is used to make adjustments to the opening.

Front door:
To attach the upper hinge to the pillar, a FLOATING hinge reinforcement plate (piece of metal with threaded holes to accept bolts) is used.
To attach the lower hinge to the pillar, threaded holes in the hinge are used.

Basically, LOOSEN bolts and adjust up/down, side to side. In out adjustment is via adding or removing shims (upside U-shaped metal, easy to keep in place when upside down).

You may want to loosen door latch striker plate as first step and tighten it as the last step. Note: Dont adjust striker to fix door sag. Adjust the door.

Grease or wax pencil may help you see where door latches onto striker plate.

Cargo doors:
Front side cargo door is NOT shimmed.
Adjustment is made in the same fashion, look for shim, loosen, adjust door and tighten... May want to loosen latch mechanism and lastly tighten it.
Doors should be parallel (gap).

Gap dimensions between door and body.
.19 +- .06 (everywhere except noted below)
.25 +- .06 (door bottom gap)
.25 +- .06 (Front Door bottom wheel well curve gap)
.20 +- .06 (gap between 2 doors, side and rear)

Door is heavy... get help... dont dent door.
